PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the season-opening trophy on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck two times late to take a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen years.
